The Pentecostals Wedding Policy

A Message From Pastor Rob McKee

I’m glad you are considering The Pentecostals as a place to have your wedding ceremony. As Senior Pastor, I want you to have my blessing and understand The Pentecostal’s expectations for your ceremony.

Since a marriage is an institution set forth by God, The Pentecostals want the wedding ceremony to focus on the beauty, gravity and holiness of the union of marriage. It has always been expected both in history and society that the minister maintains the right to determine how the ceremony should be conducted. Our church ministry intends to maintain the holiness of marriage in our House of Worship.

Content of the ceremony and the clothing worn should reflect this God-honoring focus. The ceremony is to champion purity, commitment and reverence. Therefore, in clothing we want to be sacred and not seductive. Practical jokes and off-color humor are not appropriate for the ceremony. Music should reflect the sanctity of marriage. Songs may reflect appropriate affection, but not lustful overtones. Some music that might be appropriate privately for individuals may be not acceptable for the ceremony.

We want your ceremony to be remembered as a beautiful and appropriate occasion - not as something questionable. We hope the guidelines in this booklet will help you through a wonderful and memorable event.

To get started, you will need to arrange an appointment with the Director of Weddings as soon as your wedding date is approved to discuss the details relating to your ceremony at The Pentecostals. The Director of Weddings will assist you with the following:

  • Calendar Reservations
  • Facility Reservations
  • Security Deposits/Payments/Fees
  • Video/Audio/Technical Needs

At this appointment, important information relating to church policies, agreements regarding floral and photography/videography will be explained. You will be asked to complete and sign the Wedding Agreement as well as our Facility Rental Agreement. The Director of Weddings will answer any questions you may have and address any special needs concerning your special day.

All church members are expected to participate in Pre-marital Counseling sessions with Pastor. Information concerning this will be given.

Sincerely,

Pastor Rob McKee

GENERAL INFORMATION

If you are a member of The Pentecostals, an appointment with Pastor McKee is requested before you announce your engagement.

All weddings are scheduled through the Director of Weddings at The Pentecostals. Schedule a meeting with our Director to set the date of your wedding, book the facilities requested and discuss any specific needs at this time. Every effort will be made to schedule your wedding on the date you desire. However, due to the large number of activities at The Pentecostals, we suggest that you have several options in mind. The Director of Weddings is representing The Pentecostals and its property and does not coordinate your wedding. If you desire a Wedding Coordinator, the Director can assist you with this at a separate cost.

To qualify for booking the facilities as a member, either the bride or groom must be an active member for a minimum of three months.  The Pentecostals membership includes those who are faithful in tithing/offering, are faithful to regularly scheduled services, do not gossip or talk negatively about others and who have obeyed the Simple Gospel (repentance, baptism in Jesus’ Name, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost).  If neither the bride or groom are members, but the parents of the bride or groom are members in good standing, the couple may receive approval from the Pastor to proceed with their wedding at The Pentecostals. The bride, groom, or their parents may schedule the wedding up to nine months in advance. Non-members are permitted to schedule up to six months in advance.

Due to seasonal demands on the church facilities, wedding rehearsals, wedding ceremonies, or wedding receptions will not be scheduled on the following holidays: Easter weekend, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving weekend, after December 15 until January 3. Wedding ceremonies and wedding rehearsals will not be scheduled on Sundays or at times that will conflict with church services or special church events. Weddings should start no later than 8:00 p.m. Friday evenings and 4:00 p.m. Saturdays, with departure no later than 10:00 p.m. (8:00 p.m. on Saturdays)

Childcare is not provided for wedding rehearsals, wedding ceremonies, or wedding receptions. Children will not be allowed to run freely in the church building other than in the reception area.  The church nursery is available for use, if desired (fees may apply).

In the event that you should desire someone other than a The Pentecostals minister to perform your ceremony, the officiating minister must meet the approval of the The Pentecostals Wedding Director or Pastor. We also offer a private ceremony with one of the The Pentecostals licensed ministers should you request one.

Tables and chairs are included with facility rental (but are limited to the number currently on hand).  Room and/or table decorations, centerpieces, linens, curtains, etc. may available for use (for a fixed fee), unless already reserved and/or being used elsewhere.  (Example:  curtain and tablecloth use fees are $75 each).  Other fees vary (Equipment Rental Form required).

The facilities available for wedding are:

  •            Katy Sanctuary - Seating Capacity of 800 (standing) / 500 (seated)
  •            Lewisville Sanctuary - Seating Capacity of 500 (standing) / 400 (seated)
  •            Katy Gym:  Capacity of 500 (standing) / 250 (seated)

The wedding party may return after the ceremony for as many flash pictures as they wish. The ceremony is considered to begin with the seating of the mothers.  Photography services are available by the church, but are based on availability.  Fees for photographers are determined by mutual consent and should be paid directly to such photographers.

The videographer should be well prepared to follow church policies and procedures. No supplementary lighting may be used. Wireless microphones may be used, but no wires or cable should leave the balcony area. Wireless microphones shall be turned off if they interfere with the churches sound system.
