Soon after we receive your interest form, a UHCS facilitator will contact you by email or phone to discuss your interest in group(s) or workshop and answer any questions you may have. Your responses are confidential and will only be reviewed by UHCS mental health clinicians. Please note that the * represents a required response. If the support group or workshop you are interested in is no longer open to additional students, please consider reaching out to UHCS for other counseling and support options.

Spring 2025 Groups and Workshop

MONDAY

GRIEF GROUP

Location: UHCS

3:00 PM - 4:00PM
 
January 27th to April 7th
 
A group to create space for those students who are struggling with loss and/or grief and are interested in a place to process in a group format.
 

TUESDAY

HEAL SUPPORT GROUP

Location: UHCS

4:00PM to 5:30PM EST, in person

February 18th through April 15th (no group 3/3)

HEAL is a psychoeducational support group for survivors of sexual assault. This group is offered in conjunction with OPEN’s Sexual Violence Resource Center.

 

WEDNESDAY

TRANSGENDER/NON-BINARY SUPPORT GROUP 

Location: UHCS

12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

January 29th to April 9th (no group 2/19, 3/5, 3/19)

This is a group for folks who identify as trans/non-binary/non- conforming/gender fluid/agender or questioning their gender identity. This group provides a safe space for folks to talk about your journey, share difficulties and success, support one another, and build a community. 

 

THURSDAYS

GRADUATE STUDENT SUPPORT GROUP

Location: UHCS

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Twice a month: 1st and 3rd Thursday – 2/6/25; 2/20; 3/6 – no group; 3/13, 3/20; 4/3, 4/17

Graduate students interested in joining a group that meets twice monthly focusing on peer mutual support to address some of the challenges with being a graduate student here at Northeastern University including coping with stress/demands, making connections/fostering relationships, identity development, and concerns related to academics and career after graduation.

 

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUPPORT GROUP

Location: UHCS

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Two options available

Biweekly, in-person, at UHCS:  Thursdays 1:30-2:30:  1/23, 2/6, 2/20 and 3/6.

Biweekly, virtual: Thursdays 1:30-2:30: 1/16, 1/30, 2/13, 2/27 

Challenges for international students may relate to the following: adjusting to a new academic and social environment; finding companions of one’s own culture, religion, language, homesickness, loneliness, financial stress, social confidence or Visa issues.

This support group serves an open, non-judgmental, supportive and safe space for you, as an international student in NU, to gain awareness to explore your needs in life, make social connections, and learn skills to navigate in searching resources through the unique personal experiences shared by the group. Join us in-person on Boston campus or/and virtually (on Teams) every week to speak with a clinician from UHCS and your peers!

 

WORKSHOP

THE ACHIEVEMENT ALLIANCE

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Wednesday - Second and fourth Wednesday of the month. Dates: 1/29; 2/12; 2/26; 3/12; 3/26; 4/9; 4/23

The Achievement Alliance is an 8-week workshop designed to help college students lessen stress through building executive functioning skills like time management, organization, and focus. This group will help student fine tune their habits, build momentum and to achieve their goals with confidence.
