Your responses are confidential and will only be reviewed by UHCS mental health clinicians. Please note that the * represents a required response. If the support group you are interested in is no longer open to additional students, please consider reaching out to UHCS for other counseling options.

Spring 2022 Groups

MONDAYS

Supports and Strategies for Managing Academic Stress Workshop

Monthly on Mondays

January 23, February 27, March 20, April 10

10:00AM – 11:00AM

Join us once a month to learn techniques to manage academic stress. A UHCS clinician will support you with developing organizational skills, maintaining a balanced schedule, and coping with the stress of being a student. These workshops will be offered in person, on the Boston campus.

 

TUESDAYS

Prescreening will begin January 31, 2023 and are required for enrollment.

WEDNESDAYS

Taking the Fear out of Food - CLOSED

February 1st through April 19th

If you have noticed that thoughts about food and body image consume more of your time and energy than you would like, join us and learn skills for coping with the emotions that surround your relationship with food. This group will be held virtually. Students in Massachusetts are able to participate.

Anxiety & You: Skills Approach to Help Manage Anxiety - CLOSED

2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, & 3/1

3:30PM -4:30PM

This in-person (Boston campus) group will focus on education, knowledge development and skill building. Comprised of 5 hands-on sessions where you will learn what anxiety is, where it comes from and how manage it throughout your life.  Each week will have a theme, with group participants deciding the focus of session 5. Themes include

  • Session #1: Understanding Anxiety
  • Session #2: Cognitive strategies to combat anxiety
  • Session #3: Gradually facing fears
  • Session #4: Mindfulness/Anxiety management strategies
  • Session #5: TBA Determined by group participants

THURSDAYS

International Support Group

February 9th - March 30th

1:00PM – 2:00PM

This supportive, non-judgmental and safe space is for international students to express concerns, connect, and find support. The group is open to students seeking community, connection, and the opportunity to learn about resources as you navigate this new journey in the United States and NU community. Discussion topics may include adjustment and transition difficulties, cultural differences, social and communication challenges, and tips to navigate resources on and off campus. Let’s chat! This group will be in person at UHCS on the Boston campus.

 

Self-Discovery group – “Have you met yourself Lately”? - CLOSED

February 2nd through March 9th

3:00PM – 4:00PM

This 6-week group that is open to students who find themself struggling with imposter syndrome and embracing authenticity. This group will be in person at UHCS on the Boston campus.

Anywhere on the Rainbow - An LGBTQIA2S+ Support Group

February 9th through April 13th

4:30PM – 5:30PM

Come together with students who identify within the LGBTQIA2S+ community or are questioning their gender/sexuality to connect with others, honor a wide range of experiences, and celebrate the authentic you! This group will be in person at UHCS on the Boston campus.
