The first few years of teaching in an independent school can be challenging. The SAIS Institute for New Teachers provides guidance, support, and the opportunity to practice planning and instructional skills with a small peer group led by an experienced independent school educator. Immediate, constructive feedback on demo lessons allows attendees to practice in a supportive setting.

Armed with practical hands-on strategies and information unique to the culture and setting of an independent school, new teachers leave this program empowered to create and facilitate inspired learning experiences, partner with parents, and find their place in the school community.

NEW THIS YEAR - SUPERVISOR INFO SESSION: Additionally, supervisors and division heads sending teachers to this program are invited to an info session to learn what to expect from participants who attend this institute. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback. The info session will be offered twice: June 8 and June 22 at 10:00 AM Eastern. Supervisors may attend whichever session best fits their schedule. The Zoom links will be sent to the supervisor listed on the below form.
