Transgender Dialogue
Wednesday, Feb 12, 2020
4:00 PM Eastern

Educators from The Walker School will share professional experiences and insights connected to supporting students, parents, faculty, and board members during a transgender student’s transition. Leaning heavily on Walker’s first core value - the belief in “the infinite worth and dignity of the individual” - the student safely transitioned from male to female amongst first grade classmates. We will discuss the most salient parts of Walker’s journey, acknowledging that every student and school’s experience is different based on mission and philosophy. We will also explore new approaches to faculty professional development, parent education, ongoing support, and building school-wide procedures that support all students as they learn to thrive in an increasingly diverse world.

Free to SAIS members. A Zoom link will be sent to all registrants. The event will be recorded and available to SAIS members.
