SMACNA Safety Innovation Award

With the theme of “Safety Excellence Through Innovation”, this award is open to all SMACNA members who submitted a 2024 SMACNA Safety Excellence Award survey. In collaboration with SMACNA Premier Partners Milwaukee Tool and Federated Insurance, the award will be for the company that demonstrates an example of an innovative safety idea, concept or best practice that proved successful in improving the company safety program or safety culture.

Describe the idea, concept or best practice below that best represents the Safety Innovation. All entries for the 2024 SMACNA Safety Innovator of the Year Award will be evaluated by the Safety Awards Taskforce and SMACNA Executive Committee based on the following criteria: Creativity: The task force will assess the level of creativity displayed in the safety program and its implementation. This includes innovative approaches, unique ideas, and creative solutions to safety and/or mental health challenges. Degree of Added Benefit to the Company: Entries will be evaluated for the extent to which the safety and/or mental health program has added value to the company. The taskforce will consider how the program has positively impacted the organization's overall safety culture and performance. These criteria will help ensure a fair and thorough evaluation of all submissions, recognizing both qualitative and quantitative aspects of safety excellence. *

A $5,000 donation will be made on behalf of the winner to their favorite charity. Milwaukee Tool and Federated Insurance have both sponsored $2,500 each to provide for the charity donation. In addition, the winner will receive online recognition, record a podcast, and be provided a trophy during the SMACNA Annual Convention – Business Meeting.

Note to all entrants: All submitted entries / ideas (winner and non-winners) will be public domain and may be advertised back out to SMACNA membership as ideas for safety improvement. The winner announcement article will also include descriptions of the top three or four ideas so all SMACNA members can benefit from the innovative best practices. Submittals are due July 1, 2023.
